National Park Trust is pleased to announce that Senator Harry Reid of Nevada will receive the 2008 Bruce F. Vento Award.

Senator Reid will be recognized for his pivotal role in protecting the Arctic, his work to establish Great Basin National Park and the Desert Protection Act, and his work to preserve Lake Tahoe. In 2003 Senator Reid introduced the Yellowstone Protection Act which controls the use of snowmobiles in our national parks. Most recently, he supports the increased National Park Service budget for the 2008 fiscal year -- the largest increase in park operations funding every proposed.

National Park Trust extends an invitation to all of our members and supporters to join us as we celebrate and honor Senator Reid’s continued commitment to preserve and protect our nation’s public lands.
