Student from Where's Buddy Bison Been?™ School Pilot Program Interviews DOI Secretary Ken Salazar PDF Print E-mail
interviewsalazaralexander11.6.09Budding journalist, Alexander Taylor, had the unique opportunity to interview Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar about our parks, Buddy Bison and professional opportunities in environmental fields. Alexander is a 5th grade student at the National Presbyterian School, which was the first schools selected to participate in NPT's Where's Buddy Bison Been?™  School Pilot Program.

During his interview, Secretary Salazar mentioned that there will be more than 10,000+ new jobs created within the Department of the Interior in the upcoming years. When asked about what he thought about Buddy Bison, the Secretary smiled and said that he really liked Buddy Bison and that the program is a fun way to connect kids to our parks. The Secretary further commented that Buddy Bison has been with him to Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks.

The interview is the first in a series organized by NPT, which will teach young people important lessons about our parks and their rich culture and history. The interviews will be featured in our new student e-newsletter and will include stories, photos and other creative work submitted by students across the country.
