 Booz Allen embraces environmental and sustainability practices—in our homes, in our communities, and in the world—through our support for nonprofits around the country. This includes support for America's national, state, and local parks. This year, we're encouraging employees to celebrate National Kids to Parks Day on May 18. National Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide effort to connect youth with nature and encourage them to experience and explore the outdoors.

Events will be held in parks nationwide- find out what's going on in your community today and take the pledge to participate on May 18. Make to sure to RSVP by completing the form on this page!

Kids to Parks Day 2012 Highlights

Below is very small sample of over 250 events hosted across the nation on National Kids to Parks (KTP) Day 2013.

Oil Creek State Park, PA

Children participated in Geocaching, Guided Nature Walk, Flay Fishing and Bait Fishing. Special guest appearances by Smokey Bear and McCool's Wildlife Services. Participants also experienced birds nests and eggs, little brown bats, toads and tadpoles and numerous wildflowers. All in all, the purpose of getting kids out and into the park was definitely achieved at Oil Creek State Park and plans are already underway for next years events.

 Alton, IL

City residents participated in a city wide beautification project. Residents of Alton had the opportunity to give back to their local parks by picking up litter from main sidewalks and parks. This opportunity allowed residents to build a stronger bond with their city by encouraging them to invest time into cleaning up their local parks.

 Volcanoes National Park, HI

Residents targeted areas in the park that required the removal of the invasive ginger and helped plant native seedling trees. Residents of all ages came out with their families to learn more about the park's native forest restoration efforts.

Whitney, TX

The US Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers and volunteers hosted the Kid Fish Day on May 19, 2012. The event took place from 9am-12pm at Lofer's Bend Day Use Park at Whitney Lake. In addition The Army Corps of Engineers hosted educational instructions about proper fishing.

 Laurel, MD

The Granville Gude Park hosted a free annual Lakefest for the entire family. The Lakefest Kick-off events at the park included games, hayrides, moon bounces, paddle boating, arts and crafts, dance demos, and face painting.

 Jackson, MS

 In celebration of National Kids to Parks Day, residents enjoyed a picnic and an outdoor movie at Liberty Garden Park. In addition the Cypress Grove Nature Park hosted a birds of prey program featuring eagles, hawks and owls. The program allowed attendees the opportunity to learn about local wildlife.

 Cub Run, KY

The Nolin River Lake Visitor Center offered canoe or kayak trips from Dog Creek Boat Ramp up Dog Creek branch and back. The trip down the river allowed residents an experience to view the beautiful area on the lake. After the paddle, the city hosted an informal cookout, games, and music at the Dog Creek Recreation Area.
