100 Book Challenge Launch with Buddy Bison

Timonium Elementary welcomed Buddy the Bison on September 12 for the kick-off of the 100-Book Challenge Program for this school year. The 100-Book Challenge Program encourages independent reading, both at home and in school. Our theme for the year is "Our National Parks" so students will learn about Fort McHenry, Hampton National Historic Site here in Towson, Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Glacier National Park in Montana. TES is now recognized as an official "Buddy Bison School" through the National Park Trust organization so we will be promoting the concepts of conservation and preservation of land and parks.

The weekend of September 14, Fort McHenry celebrated the anniversary of the War of 1812 with fireworks, period costumes, and reenactments. If you decide to visit Fort McHenry in the future, please send a photo of your child/family at the park to be posted on the 100 Book Challenge hallway display.
