Hiking, Nature Sighting, and Civil War Fighting at Kennesaw Mountain

Parks can tell stories about events that happened hundreds of years ago, in the same place where you live now. My new buddies from Hollydale Elementary School in Marietta, GA and I hiked to the top of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park for an awesome "bison-eye" view of the Civil War battlefield below.

Afterwards, Civil War re-enactor John Tolbert taught us about life as a soldier.

With the help of an education program made just for Hollydale, my buddies had a hands-on opportunity to learn about the importance of the battle to Georgia's history.

DID YOU KNOW: Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is the only national park that honors the Civil War battles fought in Georgia? This made it even better that I got to help the kids learn about their state's history!
