National Park Trust Youth Leadership Program
The Buddy Bison Student Ambassador Program has expanded and is now our new National Park Trust Youth Leadership Program! The goal of the leadership program is to promote the mission of National Park Trust and inspire future park lovers, stewards, and advocates – because kids need parks, and parks need kids!
Earlier this year, we solicited applicants to replace two of our current Buddy Bison Ambassadors, Tigran Nahabedian (CA) and Sarah Hullihen (NJ) who are moving to high school. From the outpouring of interest, we quickly realized the need to create the broader National Park Trust Youth Leadership Program. What was once “just” our Buddy Bison Student Ambassador Program with 4 elementary and middle school students who support our mission on a local and national level, has now grown to 18 to include our newest categories: Buddy Bison Student Representatives (providing more local community support) and our Buddy Bison Student Ambassador Alumni who can still actively promote our mission during their busy high school years.
All of our leaders will enjoy discovering and sharing their park experiences through our digital platforms. Best of all they can receive special access to park events meeting VIPs, park officials, rangers plus many students and their families wherever they go.
The Buddy Bison Ambassador Program was created in 2015 as our country prepared for the Centennial Celebration of the National Park Service. Our first Ambassador Tigran, set the bar high with his creative and exciting ideas to connect kids to parks. He was followed by Sarah, Audrey Elliott (NC) and Bryan Wilson (AZ).
Our leaders proudly represent 13 states and Washington, DC and span the ages of 9 to 15. Congratulations and welcome to our newest members! We look forward to following your stories about your park adventures!
