Jewell Announces Major Funding for Conservation Service Corps

The Department of the Interior began the new year with Secretary Sally Jewell announcing the first major donation of private funding to support the 21st Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC). American Eagle Outfitters committed $1 million towards a $20 million goal.

New Project at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park to Engage Local Students

NPT will be launching a new project at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve (LA)  to restore native plants and trees at the Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery  in honor of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans and upcoming centennial of the National Park Service. Over the next three to five years NPT will be working with local elementary school students to restore the battlefield to its original landscape, providing visitors with a more enhanced park experience.

Kids to Parks Day School Contest is Open!

Kids to Parks Day is fast approaching! In addition to joining thousands of others around the country for a day of outdoor fun on May 17th, students can win a park scholarship for their school trip. The Kids to Parks Day National School contest was created to engage students with their local parks and is open to all schools across the country (grades Pre-K through 12). NPT will award scholarships up to $1,000 to winning entries to be used for their KTP park trip during the month of May.

Buddy Bison Logo Gets a Facelift

What better way to kick off the new year and the 5th year of our Buddy Bison school program than to debut our spruced-up more park-oriented Buddy Bison logo that complements our organization's new logo? Buddy Bison has rapidly become the "face" of park stewardship and outdoor recreation for hundreds of thousands of kids and their families across the country!

Did you know that when you purchase a Buddy Bison you help send an under-served child to a park? All proceeds from our sales of Buddy Bison benefit our Kids to Parks National Scholarship Fund. All national parks are free on President's Day Weekend, February 15-17. So grab your Buddy Bison, camera, and get out and go!
