After Dinner Stroll

Sherwood - Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

This is a Hike it Baby event. Fingers crossed for good weather. My "baby" is turning two and I'd love to lead a post-dinner, evening stroll to calm down after a day of partying and sugar. We love finding newts, birds, beavers, frogs, bats, etc every time we visit the Wildlife Refuge.

The trail is mostly gravel so expect some decent puddles if it's rained recently. This is a flat trail that meanders in and out of wooded shady areas along the Tualatin River. Depending how tired the kids get, we can either go out and back or make the full 3.5 mile loop.

Rowena Plateau Wildflower Romp

Mosier - Tom McCall Preserve at Rowena Crest Viewpoint

This is a Hike it Baby event. IMPORTANT! Road closure means you need to drive a non-standard route to the trailhead! Be sure to scroll down to the meeting location for details. The short version - use exit 69 (Mosier), not Exit 76 (Rowena).

In my opinion, the ideal toddler hike - wildflowers, moss, bugs, birds, ponds, and frogs for the kids, and views galore for the parents! But it is a hike - too narrow for strollers, with rocky sections. There is about 100' of elevation change - enough to spur a little whining on the way back but not enough whining to make you hate life (probably).

Portland Esplanade

Portland Esplanade

This is a Hike it Baby event. Let's walk around the Esplanade. It's flat, paved, and great for strollers.

Starvation Creek Waterfall Loop

Starvation Creek State Park

TIME CHANGED: Kids to Parks Day Family Adventure

Lava Lands Vistors Center

This will be mainly toddler-led and slower paced, but there are many well-maintained trails to explore too with little to no elevation gain. Carriers and all-terrain strollers also welcome, but just realize we will not be moving at an adult-pace.

Please note there is a $5 parking fee at this location, Recreation Pass is available at Lava Lands Visitor Center.

Play it Forward Tinkergarten Event

Timber-Linn Park

Tinkergarten Nature-Play classes are holding Play-it-forward events all across the country to celebrate Kids to Parks Day and our mission to get more kids playing outside! Class will make a nature curtain, with each family tying nature items like leaves, seed pods and flowers onto a string, along with a memory of nature play and a wish for their child to continue to be able to play outside. Strings will be tied together on a long piece of rope between two trees, creating a nature curtain with wishes and memories. A special event to celebrate kids in the park!
