  • Since 1983, NPT has supported and assisted in acquiring inholdings and in developing public and private partnerships to promote the acquisition and preservation of parks, wildlife refuges, historic landmarks, public lands, and water ways. We have completed more than 100 park projects benefiting 49 national park units and other public lands in 33 states.   • Buddy Bison® School Program: Because Kids Need Parks and Parks Need Kids

    The Buddy Bison school program was created in 2009 to engage diverse children from Title I schools with their local, state and national parks to teach environmental education and the numerous benefits of outdoor recreation. If parks are to survive, the face of those parks must change and under-served communities must have access to these local cultural and environmental resources. More than 80% of the students in the Buddy Bison school program qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, predominantly in inner city communities. This program has been used in 60 schools across the country in grades pre-K through 8th in public, public charter and private schools across the country (20 states and Washington D.C.).

    This experiential learning program enhances existing school curricula throughout the year with emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) as well as history, language arts, reading, geography, the arts, and outdoor recreation. Students also learn about the careers of professionals who support our parks-- and the importance of stewarding our public lands. And in addition to bringing kids to parks, we bring parks to kids by arranging schools visits from our many conservation partners.

It's Contest Time!

Introducing NPT's Instagram Park Photo Contest! We want to see you enjoying time in a local, state, or national park! It could be a scenic landscape photo you took while on a hike, an action shot of you, your friends, or your family playing on a playground, or any other nature activity. Whatever you choose, show us your outdoor passion and creativity. We also encourage photos with Buddy Bison!

Entries can be submitted from Tuesday 12/15/15 to Friday 1/15/16. Each individual may post as many photos to increase their chance to win!

How to Enter:

1. Instagram a picture of you or your family or friends enjoying a local, state, or national park.

2. Tag us using @nationalparktrust AND #NatParkTrust. In the comment section, include name and location of the park and share what you like to do there!

3. Follow us on Instagram: @nationalparktrust.


 What you can win:

The winner will receive a prize package including:
• 1 (one) Buddy Bison mascot stuffed animal
• 2 (two) National Geographic Books (National Geographic Secrets of the National Parks and National Geographic Kids National Parks Guide U.S.A.)
• The winner will also be featured on NPT's social media and the February issue of Buddy Bison's Buzz.

Contest Rules:

• All photo entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm EST on January 15th.
• Entrants must be a U.S. resident
• Entrants' Instagram account must be a public account.
• Entrants must post a new and original photo. A re-posted photo or tagging an old photo will disqualify you.
• All photos entered in the contest must be tagged with BOTH @nationalparktrust AND #NatParkTrust and describe the park experience. Each individual may post as many photos to increase their chance to win. 
• The winner will be chosen and notified on January 22, 2016. Notifying comments will also be left on the winning photos on Instagram.
• If prizes are not claimed within 48 hours of notification, the prize will go to the next winner.
• Submitting your photo(s) means you give the National Park Trust permission to use them without restriction, through print, projection, internet web site, video, and/or any other potential media market.
